Language & Connection

Bridging language, distance, and family.

For many Korean adoptees, reconnecting with family means navigating two languages, two cultures, and sometimes decades of separation. These are the tools and resources that helped make meaningful conversations possible.

A Note From the Founder

A bridge between reunion, language, and practical support.

When I reunited with my Korean mother, language quickly became one of the biggest challenges we faced. We had found one another after decades apart, but communicating across two languages was often difficult. Some days we relied on translation apps. Other days we exchanged audio messages, screenshots, video calls, and a lot of patience.

As our relationship grew, I realized that translation tools could help us understand words, but learning Korean helped me build a deeper connection to my family, culture, and heritage. What began as a desire to communicate became a personal journey of learning Hangul, building vocabulary, practicing conversation, and understanding the meaning behind the language.

The resources on this page are shared from personal experience. They are the tools, apps, and learning platforms that helped me communicate with family, begin learning Korean, and navigate the challenges of reconnecting across language and distance. Whether you are preparing for a reunion, learning Korean for the first time, or simply looking for practical tools to stay connected, I hope these resources help make your journey a little easier.
